What I have learnt from tool development

You ONLY make progress with getting something into the real world if you build software to augment actual work processes. If the aim is to inspire in general or to impress, then it’s fine to develop tools that are cool and impressive in and off themselves. But unless the hammer has a nail, it will not enter the users tool chest.
